about

". Saturnalia Trio is a fantastic acoustic ensemble well versed in Renaissance, Folk and Madrigal genres."

"The first remarkable piece is 'The Devil's Aerie" with it's odd signature and innovative rhythm section (I mean, how creative can you get with a bodhran?!) an instrumental masterpiece. The tune I fell in love with, "Alfonso X Tune," features a myriad of instruments that are underscored by a pristine and glass-like harp. Another favorite is the eastern/middle-eastern influenced piece "At the Clock's End" with hammered dulcimer scratching out the melody through a haunting canvas of tension and mystery. Leslie Gray's violin is the showcased rather well on this track. Chops are also abundant here as the trio does well to highlight their ability to react musically to each other's voice's.
If you appreciate acoustic efforts, this one is for you – and don't let the genre's keep you away. Just as I was reluctant to let Nickel Creek bless my ears, I could have been listening to them a whole lot sooner! Don't make the same mistake I did. Open your ears and minds to this superb trio." (Jon Rice) - Sea of Tranquility

"This delightfully versatile group’s only problem is arithmetical; it actually consists of four multi-instrumentalists, who play everything from psalteries to synthesizers and darbukkas to dulcimers. They dig deeply into the progressive folk genre, combining medieval and Renaissance music with modern sensibilities. Memorable originals sit comfortably next to songs by John Dowland, and the results form a thoroughly enjoyable pastiche that might remind one of Fairport Convention or the Incredible String Band. This recording will be a smash within a hundred miles of any Renaissance fair" (Jeffery Wanser)
